Bath Salt Tutorial!

So I make some pretty yummy bath salts and I wanted to share with you all a great way to make them...super easy and super cheap!  They make awesome gifts!  I like to give them away to new mothers...perfect for relaxing after coming home with new baby!!

The scent I'm sharing with you is a delicious Pure Vanilla.

What you'll need:
--pure vanilla extract
--1 cup Epsom salt (great for sore muscles and $1 at the Dollar Tree)
--wax paper
--decor or mason jar (I've even made samples using baby food jars)
--pretty material for topper

Step 1:  Take a large mixing bowl and add the salt and a tablespoon of vanilla (add more for a stronger scent).

Step 2: Mix well and then lay it thinly out on a sheet of wax paper to dry.  May take 2-5 hours to dry completely.

Step 3:  While salt is drying, measure and cut a circle of decorative fabric to fit the top of your jar.

Step 4:  Fill your jar with the salt (make sure it is fully dry) and secure the fabric around the lid with a rubber band.

Step 5:  Top it off with a cute ribbon to hide the rubber band and all done!  A custom gift hand made by you!

  1. SUPER cute and what a great gift! Dollar tree even had mason jars a while back, so that would make this project cost close to nothing! I love vanilla too, can't wait to try it out :)

  2. I love how simple this is! How does it store and for how long?

  3. Once completely dried and stored in an air tight container, it should store well for months! Although, I never wait around...I use em up quickly!

  6. Great DIY. But for anyone else who is going to make this, make sure your pure vanilla extract doesnt contain alcohol!
