Quick Fabric Taggie Tutorial

So the taggie toys are IN right now!!  They are really fun for baby and easy to make!

I've seen tons around; even at the high-priced baby stores!  Many different styles and tuts around blogland too!

But all I've seen are ribbon taggie toys...?  I was wanting to sew some new toys, but didn't have enough ribbon.  Mmmm...(thinking)

I was in a creative mood and decided to try and make some taggies out of scrap fabric!  Turned out to be really easy and they can be made to match your main fabric...how cool is that?

Here is what you need:
some scrap fabric pieces that are at least 3" long and 1 to 2" wide (you can go bigger and longer)
sewing machine
thread, scissors, etc.
iron

Step 1: So get you some scrap together and cut to size.
Step 2: Tri-fold your fabric piece.
Step 3: Iron the piece flat.
Step 4: Once ironed flat, fold in half long ways.  Set your machine to a decorative stitch (I like zig zag, but you can use anything) and stitch right down the middle and all done!

Now you've got some fun, fabric taggies for custom toys!

Paci Clip Tutorial

Alrighty, so I have seen  bunch of great paci clip tuts around blogland, but mainly with using ribbon...never seen one using fabric?  Not that ribbon isn't awesome, but I tried it and just never really liked how it turned out.....so....

Here is my tut on making a fabric paci clip.  Pretty easy and if anything isn't real clear, just shoot me an email!  And sorry some of the pics are so dark...?  Not sure what the deal is with my camera.  But anyways!

You will need:
some scrap fabric (I used flannel from my bib tut) about 2 inches wide and 9-12 inches long
suspender clips (get a 2 pack at Hobby Lobby for under $2)
sewing machine (or hand stitch it?)
thread, scissors, etc.
wooden spoon (yup...just trust me)

Step 1: Cut out your strip of fabric, fold in half long ways, and sew it up (right sides together) with a hem leaving one end open to turn right side out.  You'll be working with about an inch to turn right side out, but don't worry.  Remember your wooden spoon?
Step 2: Once its all sewn up, work the sewn end into a little "cup" and stick the end of the wooden spoon up in there.  Sounds weird, but gently work the end of the spoon up the inside of the fabric.
Step 3: Gently continue to pull the fabric down over the spoon, working it right side out.  Get it?
Step 4: Work the sewn end out to sharpen the corners.
Step5: Hem up the open end and iron flat.
Step 6: Top stitch with a zig zag for a little interest.
Step7: Sew on the suspender clip.
Step 8: Cut some velcro pieces to fit the fabric strip.  Sew them on using a tight zig zag stitch.
All done! A custom paci clip made by YOU!
Don't wanna make one?  Email me today for a custom order!  I can make burp clothes, bibs, blankets, baby toys, boppy covers, and matching sets!

Don't forget to head over to Mad Skills Monday and link up your stuff!!

Baby Bib Tutorial

So I have seen a lot of different tuts floating around for a baby bib...all really GREAT ones too!  So I figured I'd take a stab at it as well.  I made mine reversible...2 bibs in one!

This is a very basic tut and easy to follow, so I didn't include pics.  But if something isn't quite clear, be sure to email me!

You will need:
2 coordinating fabrics
velcro
sewing machine
thread, scissors, etc.
a baby bib that you already have and like the way it fits (that's important)

Here's a pic of my fabrics I used.

Step 1: So I took two coordinating flannel fabrics and placed the right sides together down on the table.

Step 2: Then take the bib you have and trace a pattern around it (with the neck open!) using chalk...or eyeball it like I did.  Leave room for the hem (1/4 inch or so).

Step3: Cut our your bib and make sure that the right sided of the fabric are facing one another.

Step 4: Pin and sew up leaving a hole at the bottom to turn right side out.

Step5: Once all sewn up, turn right side out and top stitch your hole closed and all the way around the bib.  *You could do a fancy stitch to add a little interest!

Step6: Cut your velcro pieces (about an inch long works).  Line them up where you want them on your bib.  *Use your existing bib as a reference if needed.

Step7: Sew on your velcro using a tight zig zag stitch and you're all done!
A custom bib made for your baby by YOU!

Wanna buy one?  Email me today to place a custom order!  I also make burp clothes, paci clips, boppy covers, and matching sets!

Hehe!  Look at him being silly...

Jack's 3rd Birthday Party!

Hey all!  I wanna share Jack's party with you!  I just love throwing parties and event planning....so many fun details!  And I get a big kick outta trying to get the biggest BASH for my $$$!

Alright, so my first move was to browse my local Dollar Tree...nothing very exciting utnil I visited the one in Arlington , where my folks live.  RRrrr! MATEY!  PIRATE PARTY STUFF!  There we go, our theme is a Pirate Birthday Bash!

Once I had my theme, I was ready to go.  Mostly went with store bought decorations (everything for under $30)!  Check it all out!

The goodie bags were my genious husbands idea...grrr, it shoulda been mine, BUT I MADE THEM!  Anyways, for a pirate theme, I took plain ole paper lunch sacks and drew pirate treasure maps on them with a Sharpie marker!  Easy peezy and super cute!

Dressing up a party is easy to do....with streamers!!!  Super CHEAP and adds color and fun!
And let me tell you something about balloons...kids love em.  Whats not to love?  They float and brightly colored, I mean I get it.  But, don't skimp on quality.  Go to your local party store and buy the good ones.

And get a load at this cake!  My father has made all the kids' cakes since forever!
My dad is the BOMB!
The bottom layer is a sheet cake with a plastic wrapped cardboard box sitting on top.  Fill with candy and treasures, then place the box lid on and cover with a molded sheet cake (so it looks like the lid to a treasure chest).  Decorate and when you're ready to open er up, prop up the lid with something sturdy (we used one of the party cups).
And lets not forget all the loot.  Jack made out with a new bike, a sandbox, and enough Toy Story toys to last until Christmas, hopefully.  Hope you enjoyed!

We produce BIG babies...

My husband and I, that is...we produce big babies.

I read a post today, in a fantastic little blog I recently discovered, that mentioned a baby in the 97 percentile of weight and height.

Wow.
I thought I had given birth to the only one!
You know, big babies are wonderful, with little chubbs here and there...and the little ham hocks (thighs)!  Super cute, but heavy.  Yup.  Super heavy.  And I am strongly right handed (which means my left is basically useless) so after only a few moments of holding Sam, I feel my right arm will FALL OFF!

Look at my little guy...I mean, my big guy!
(sure loves his food)
