$1 Baby Doll Goodies!

So we had a little girls birthday to attend this weekend and I wanted to make her something extra special!

I saw all the awesome baby doll accessories from 12 Crafts Til Christmas and got all the inspiration I needed!
If you haven't headed over there to see all the cute doll stuff she's been making...you need to.

So I knew I wanted a baby doll diaper bag and accessories.
I created my own diaper bag...check back for a tut coming soon!!!

And of course needed diapers and wipes.  I followed her same tut for the felt wipes.
Check em out!
They turned out great!  And for 25 cents per felt sheet at Hobby Lobby,
I made 2 play wipe sets for $1!!!

Here's how I made my diapers:

What you need:
2 - 8x11 sheets of fleece (look where they keep the felt sheets...only 50 cents a piece!)
velcro
sewing machine, scissors, thread, etc.
*Note:  Adjust your size in accordance with the doll in mind.*

What you do:
Step 1:  cut your sheets of fleece in half short ways
Step 2:  fold your fleece halfs in half
Step 3:  cut a 2 to 2.5 inch triangle from the folded corner
Step 4:  sew the velcro in the diaper corners with a zig zag using white thread

All done!  I scored 4 play diapers for $1!!!

So to re-cap...you can make play wipes and play diapers for only $2.  Nuff said.
Enjoy!

Vroom Vroom Washable Placemats

So at dinner the other night I had an idea.  I'm sick of cleaning up the table a hundred times during meals because Jack is rather messy sometimes.

We tried using plastic place mats but they were too big to store conveniently and they melt in the dish washer...what to do?  Well, I had some cool race car fabric that I've been wanting to use.

Ta da!
A machine washable place mat...just shake it out and toss it in the washer.
No wiping or scrubbing clean.

Super easy...
Step 1: Just cut two equal size rectangles of coordinating fabric.
Step 2: Sew right sides together leaving a hole to turn right side out.
Step 3: Iron flat and sew up the hole.
Step 4: Top stitch with a zig zag or any other decorative stitch.

Want it water proof?
Add a layer of a water proof material such as an old mattress cover!  Works like a charm!

Also makes a quick gift...get you some cute character plates from the $1 store and sew a few washable place mats in matching fabric!!

Here is Jack enjoying his new place mat.
What a goof!

Whatever Wednesday #6

Hah!  Its nearly 10pm and I am just now getting a chance to post for Whatever Wednesdays...yikes!  Can't help it, had to do a bunch of chores this afternoon...laundry, ug!

And, I had a great meal time idea and squeezed in a little quick sewing craft for it!  Stay tuned for that tomorrow!

Here's another trip down memory lane...
Aren't they cute!
Check out this tribal action...

Tried to get a shot of the jeweled rear-end and the sparkly hair...but I guess you can't have it all.

Sorry this last ones a little fuzzy ;)

Hope you enjoyed!

This Room is Baby Powder Fresh!

So the other night, I could hear the boys laughing and giggling.  I just smiled and was so happy that they were playing nicely, so I decided to take a peek...!

Oh yeah, their laughing alright...
because Jack emptied an entire bottle of baby powder ALL OVER Sam's room.
Here he is coating Sam's toy box.
He felt the need to sprinkle baby powder on everything in the room...

The rocker...

Lightning McQueen...

The toy tool bench...

And yes, even the Mr. Potato Head pieces...

*sigh*
Took 2 nights to clean it all up..the vacuum started smelling like burnt baby powder!

Strong. Like. Bull.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but my husband, Michael, and I are committee members for Jackie's Hope for a Cure and we both fight for Lung Cancer victims.

We have a main event coming up that we are all very excited about...dun ta da DA!!!!
A RODEO EVENT!!!

And for this event I am submitting some paintings for auction and 100% of the proceeds will go towards lung cancer research and awareness.

Here is one of my submittals...
Very abstract and modern but also depicting strength and awe.
Also very simple for any artist.

I started out with an old canvas to paint over...
Turned it on its side and started applying colors with a pallet knife.  I used brown, yellow, white, and blue.
Just scrape the paint down the canvas, much like icing a cake!
I then traced out the form of the bull with the point of the knife right into the wet paint.
And then filled in the form with globs of blue paint.  I then applied some black paint to create shadows on the bull.  All done!

Here are a few close ups...

Jack's gone GOTHIC!

So hubby was home alone with the boys the other night while I was out working.
He told me he thought to himself..."Man, its quiet...?  Awesome.  Why is Ginger always complaining about the noise.  How come Ginger thinks the boys are noisy...?"

He went back to "Michael business" for a second and then decided it would be wise to check everything out.

Enter Jack in the bathroom...applying black nail polish (that's been rolling around in the drawer since last Halloween)...

ON HIS HEAD!
 Seriously?

Not sure what he was thinking here...
How do you go from trying to paint your nails, black of all colors, to painting your forehead?

Here's a painting I did for class...my last class though.
Bittersweet and truly a blessing...the best move for my family.

Very feminine...here are a few close ups.
